Haeco has been granted a U.S. Patent on its new “Sense of Touch” technology for automatically dispensing sealant on the glazing ledge of sashes and frames in the window and door manufacturing process. This new technique eliminates problematic laser sensors that lead to equipment damage, complicated sensor re-adjustments, damaged product, and lost production.Additionally, the technology gently and evenly compensates for bowed or out-of-square frames to maintain a precise bead position on the glazing ledge. Furthermore, the technology can detect out of tolerance bowing, squareness of frames, and operational faults. Upon the very instance of a fault, the dispensing is safely stopped, and fault indicated on the HMI giving the operator all the information they need to reject the product or correct the fault and finish the glazing without mess or loss of product.

Incorporated with HAECO’s new “Sense of Touch” technology is the SSV-1000 Sealant Dispense Valve. The valve can be configured for ambient silicone or hot melt and boasts the industry’s most effective temperature control through to the nozzle tip. (Figure 1).
